Application Field
- High-performance electric vehicle (e-hyperkart) prototyping
- Motorsport applications
Project Overview
Luis Mengual spent 8 years designing and building a 100% electric prototype kart to break the Guinness World Record for fastest electric kart acceleration (0-60 mph). The project required extreme performance power solutions for rapid charging and sustainable operation, integrating MEAN WELL’s CSP-3000 power supplies and NTU-3200 inverter with solar panel systems. Achievement: 1.866 seconds 0-60 mph acceleration – breaking the previous record of 2.218 seconds and setting a new Guinness World Record in August 2023.
MEAN WELL’s Impact
MEAN WELL’s power solutions played a critical role in Luis Mengual’s Guinness World Record-breaking achievement. This milestone reflects the technical reliability and flexibility of MEAN WELL’s standard power supplies in high-performance electric mobility projects.
-
CSP-3000: Delivered efficient and stable battery charging with 92–93% efficiency, offering design flexibility for high-demand applications.
-
NTU-3200: Enabled a sustainable, off-grid power system by integrating with accumulators and solar panels, maintaining consistent output at 92–93% efficiency.
While MEAN WELL also provided limited financial support during the kart’s development journey, the core impact stemmed from the integration of our robust power solutions. These systems enhanced both the charging performance and eco-friendly profile of the record-breaking kart, underscoring how MEAN WELL’s standard products can reliably power cutting-edge innovations under extreme conditions.
